Some responses which are represetative of the feedback we consistently receive following each running of the event:
I just wanted to drop you a line to say a huge THANK YOU to you and the team for yesterday’s event – it was a lot longer than I’ve ridden for a while, so arrived on my own with a mixture of excitement and trepidation for the Challenge, and I found the whole event to be superbly organised, brilliantly catered and the whole team were so supportive and encouraging. Many thanks indeed. Matt |
Just want to say thank you for an amazing and enjoyable event. Great route, excellent signage, great feed stations and lovely friendly marshals and helpers. Well done an organising such a successful event. Simon |
Good morning Geoff and the whole team at SWRC Just a quick email to thank you all for once again hosting and arranging a terrific MayFlyer. To see so many volunteers around the course assisting and serving in their own time was above and beyond. Here’s to a next year! Mark |
Just a note to say great event yesterday, well organised and helpers, really cheery. First time I’ve done the short route (not enough riding this year so far), still really enjoyed it, quiet roads and about the right mix of hills, well done to you and all the team. Many thanks Keith Workman |
Geoff just wanted to thank you and Suzie for all your hard work to put today together. It went really well, loads of positive feedback from riders, lots of happy faces. I chatted to many as they came in for coffee and everyone only had excellent feedback. It was a great event. Big kudos and great positive publicity for SWRC and hopefully will have raised a good amount for the charities. Jacky |
Just a note to say many thanks for organising a fantastic ride today. It was my first Mayflyer and I loved the route. Also all your members and volunteers that I met were a credit to your club. Best wishes Seth Jones (London Dynamo). |
Just wanted to drop a quick email to thank you for organising such a great sportive. The route is perfect, the road markings are perfect and the food after was a God send. Thoroughly enjoyed it… thank you again. Regards, Shane. |
Excellent event, really well organised, great route, great food and service. Rob Barr |
A fantastic event with great, mostly homemade, food at the stops and finish. Great course as well - on my list for next year already. Jeffrey Davis |
Just taken part in the May Flyer long one, excellent route, great feed stations, but most of all the happy smiley enthusiastic faces of all of the people who were part of the organising team, from the ladies at feed stations to the guy with the impressive facial hair in the wagon, guys and girls at the start/finish, the masseurs, everyone. Will be back. James (the tall bloke in the Pink Wyndy Milla gear) |
A very big thank you to you and the SWRC team who put on the May Flyer sportive today. It was a cracking event and you obviously put a huge amount of effort in. It really showed: it was extremely well organized, the road markings were fantastic, there were marshals miles away from the start and the feed stops and the food at the end were awesome. Many thanks for a great day out and all the hard effort the team made to organize the event. Cheers, James Elworthy |
Just completed the short course. A very enjoyable and well organised event. Road markings were very clear leaving no doubt on which direction to take. Thank you. Shaun Staples |
Hello! Thanks for an awesome sportive yesterday! Sarah Tupman |
Just wanted to say thanks so much for the wonderful MayFlyer yesterday. Brilliant organisation from the moment you pick up your race number, excellent road markings, a beautiful course taking in some lovely countryside and with the bluebells in full bloom and to top it off a friendly welcome great food and massage on return. Who could ask for more. Thanks so much. Steve Thompson |
Thank you for organising such a fantastic event. It was good to speak with you at the beginning and the end of the ride. I'm one of the Stragglists who took part in the ride. I did the longer distance this year, I found it pretty tough, but will be back next year. Please pass on my thanks to all those who helped with the event, they all did a fantastic job. Take care. Steve |
Can I just say the organisation of this event was fantastic. The enthusiasm of the helpers everywhere and the quality of the food provided during and at the finish. Everyone was a credit to the club. Best tea I have had in ages. Regards, Robert Gillies |
I just wanted to thank you and your team for a great ride yesterday. It was really well organised and all the staff were lovely. And all for a really good cause! Will look out for it next year. Jessica |
First of all, thank you for organising a great event. Your members were all very friendly and the route was pretty, peaceful, safe and testing. My only criticism would be the fare on offer at the first feed station (on long route). It was a long way to go for some orange segments and cheese ritz biscuits. The second feed station was lovely – packed full of choice titbits! If the stops had been swapped around or some of the food had been spread out then it would have been perfect! But… That's the only grumble, it was a really good event and one I'd recommend to anyone. Toby Trotman London Dynamo member |
Well done to you and all of your team for organising yet another highly successful event. Seemed to be a lot hillier than I remember from when I last rode a few years. Might be something to do with the legs! Kind Regards, John Major |
Yesterday was my first sportivey thing, after all I’ve only had a bike for 7 months, nevertheless I quite enjoyed it, even in retrospect the climbs, though there were definitely bits of those where I was hoping it would end sooner rather than later. Kind regards and thanks to you and all your team/club on laying on the event. Ian |
Excellent, if tough, event yesterday; thank you. Alastair Blowers |
Hi there - I'm looking to join a club and was really struck by how friendly the welcome was at yesterday's May Flyer. Mark. |
Thank you for organising once again the splendid May Flyer sportive. I enjoyed it a lot and the route is magnificent. Full marks too for the road markings – there was never a moment’s uncertainty about the route, the long one anyway. Jonathan |
Wanted to thank you for a fabulous event this weekend! Everything was brilliantly organised and the route was fantastic! Christina |
Thanks for organising a great event. The food at the end was particularly good. Martin Banfield |
This was an excellent event. The food stops and the marshalling were out of this world. Mark Patterson |
Thanks for an awesome sportive. Sarah Tupman |
May I start by saying what a great event SWRC put on yesterday. The weather also behaved itself and the feed station and post ride lunch was the best ever. Ray Cockle |
Really enjoyed the ride yesterday - only my second ever Sportive, so still getting to grips with it all. Paul Sidwell |
Can I just start by saying how much I really enjoy this event, this is the 5th time of doing it, and my husband Ray and I (who emailed you yesterday) missed last year. We think the new venue is really good as it is so much more spacious. The short course itself is lovely, I think we might be tempted to do the long one next year for a change as a friend we met at the hall afterwards said it is a lovely route too. I loved the course marking at the junction of the B2130 where you do a right and another quick right, which marking on the road before the junction was really clear and I can’t remember seeing that before but know to watch out for that junction. I too will add my thanks for the whole organisation, the marshals out on the course at the strategic points and last but not least the fantastic feed station, which I would have loved to have spent more time at but was conscious of wanting to try and get in before 4:07, however timing wasn’t an issue once back at the hall where I was able to indulge in sandwiches, cake and a much needed cup of tea. Thanks to all for the fantastic catering. Finally I think the finishing gift of the socks was great, though Ray gets the benefit of 2 pairs as they are a bit big for my size 5s. It was only when I got home and opened the pack that I appreciated the design and quality of the socks. Sue Cockle |
We thoroughly enjoyed the event - cakes were amazing (too moreish!!)& the friendly support afforded by the hosts capped off a pleasurable (if slightly leg-busting) adventure. Martin Farrelly |
I really enjoyed the event. Every aspect was first class. All the marshals were fantastic, the food was excellent. I thought the French Tart cake was really good, and it was such a nice touch for them to offer a free coffee at their café in Surbiton. Steve Brett |
Just to say what a thoroughly enjoyable event this year’s May Flyer was despite the wind. Great organisation and the signage on the road was perfect…even the reminder to “save a bit for Coombe” which was a very good tip. Really friendly feed stations and very sell stocked. Patrick Lacey |
Brilliant event, well run. Glad you amended times thought I was getting old. Beat last years’ time just, despite strong winds. Well done 3rd time I’ve ridden it. Keith Workman |
A brilliant sportive with a fantastic route off the 'beaten track'. Some challenging climbs for my first sportive and circa 100 mile ride for over 15 years. A well organised event with great feed stations and hospitality throughout (that one at circa 80 miles was a welcome sight) The weather just about held and I will be back next year to concur a sub 6 hour ride (preferably without the wind and just a little more sun ... Please). Thank you to all at SWRC. Matt Graves |
